The Comedy Project's Mission

The Comedy Project’s purpose is to bring improvised and other comedic performances, education, and training to the community.

Our Core Values

01

Improvised Comedy is the core of our mission and as such, The Comedy Project shall seek to instill, foster, and expand this form in our sphere of influence.

02

The Comedy Project was founded as an organization to bring Improvised Comedy to the City of Pocatello. We currently continue that tradition through performances, fundraising, education, and community outreach. The Comedy Project seeks to perform by itself or with outside organizations, within or without, of our area. The knowledge of improvised performance can be gleaned through various sources including improv festivals, traveling performances, and guest appearances. The Comedy Project will seek, when able, to attend, invite, or encourage all of the said types of additional improvised performances.

03

The Comedy Project believes in the education of improv as an art form to performers, volunteers, supporters, and other members of the community. Creating and fostering a community of understanding and appreciation for improv and comedy in all forms throughout the area.

04

The Comedy Project seeks to train all ages in the development of many forms of comedy pulling from various philosophies and approaches from all over the world. The organization fosters the development of personal, professional, and social well-being through its training

05

The Comedy Project will pursue, educate, promote, and perform other kinds of comedic performances including but not limited to sketch, stand-up, and stage plays. Thereby bringing improvisation as well as these other comedic skills to a diverse range of performances and educational courses.

06

The Comedy Project seeks to engage with the community. Performing for and collaborating with a variety of groups, making connections with businesses, and applying, going to, and hosting festivals and events.

Our
Story

The Comedy Project (TCP) is a professional, non-profit improv team based in Pocatello, Idaho.  Since 2005, TCP’s mission has been to bring laughter, performance, and education to Idaho.

Improvised theatre is a live stage performance where all of the action and dialogue are made up on the spot.  A single word suggestion from the audience inspires the performer to create an entire scene. If you like “Whose Line is it Anyway?” or Second City, you’ll enjoy TCP!

Over the years, the group has won multiple awards including the 2014 Boise Improv Cage Match, attended many festivals and workshops, and in general, sought out comedy wherever and whenever they can.   For nearly twenty years, TCP has produced a high-quality improvised show on a regular basis.  The troupe is continually working on improving its techniques and creating new games.

While live, unscripted comedy can be unpredictable, the performers attempt to maintain an approximately PG-13 rating. TCP also books private performances for any occasion, which would make any event memorable.
